I've been training for 3 weeks now and it's the best thing I've ever done. I've liked the idea of boxing training for 15 years but never had the confidence to throw myself into it, worried that I would feel out of place and not even sure I could throw a punch. Now I feel like I've wasted those years because I could have been boxing all along.
Cornelius is easy to work with. He's reassuring and his expectations of you are realistic yet challenging and tailored to your own ability and fitness level - which of course increases as the weeks pass. After a session I feel physically spent yet totally reenergised. It's great for improving fitness, strength, stamina, awareness, self-confidence and overall state of mind.
I would like to thank Cornelius for helping me to increase my fitness, strength and to tone up those stubborn wobbly bits! His personal training sessions are varied and fun, he always gives me a fantastic all over body work out and I feel amazing afterwards. Boxing is a great form of exercise for all everyone whatever your age, fitness or gender.
I highly recommend boxing with Cornelius he is an inspirational trainer and I look forward to every session with him.
I have been training with Cornelius now for around 7 weeks and have noticed a huge improvement in both my boxing skill and overall fitness. When I first started I had no idea what to expect as I had never participated in boxing before. Cornelius designs the sessions around you and makes it specific to what you both feel you want to achieve. I have throughly enjoyed my sessions with Cornelius and would recommend him to anyone. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but cornelius made me feel welcome and is a genuine nice guy. He is a great motivator and pushes you hard to achieve your goals. Im delighted with the progress made so far and look forward to many more sessions with Cornelius.
From a female perspective, In the predominantly male dominated sport of boxing it was refreshing to get the opportunity to train again with Cornelius Carr.
He takes the time to treat all members of the group as individual boxers showing little distinction between male and female and yet still catering for everyone's strengths and weaknesses.
The tuition was superb and after years of training in a variety of sports I came away feeling that this was my home.
Its a great way to get fit and if there are any girls out there reading this don't hesitate I am a 48 year old female and this will light your fire. Can't wait till the next training session.'"

After years of doing 6 months of one thing, the 6 months of another, it is great to finally find a martial art/fighting system that really gives me what I want, realistic self defence abilities taught by someone that really does know what they are talking about and even better has proven it against the world."

When me and my friend first arrived and saw the place I was thinking "Who am I kidding? Me, boxing... NO WAY!" But something kept me from chickening out It helped to have my friend there because we kept telling each other that we could do this. However, the moment we met Cornelius he made us feel right at home. It was very good because I had never done boxing before and didn't really know what to expect but with his help I was able to plunge into it very easily and I really enjoyed it. This is physically demanding but totally worth it. It's definitely something that everyone should try at least once in life."
First session over ,absolutely knackered, I did'nt think I was in that bad a shape, definitely back for more next week, I need a lot of motivating and Cornelius did that for sure, good advice and top bloke to boot, well impressed!!"
I had never done any boxing before, only a few martial arts when I was younger. I was always interested in boxing and really wanted to learn but was also looking for a way to get fit and enjoy it at the same time. I've never been good at sitting on a spin bike inside the gym not moving, I've always preffered getting outside and taking part in something that would give me excercise, get me moving as well as being enjoyable.
I have to say the first thing I noticed after finishing the first session with Cornelius (other than how knackered I was) was how much enthusiasm I had for carrying on, if I hadn't been aching so much I'd have phoned up and booked another one the next day.
He's really approachable and makes it very enjoyable training you at your own level but still pushing you and encouraging you. Before I started I wasn't very fit but I know I'm going to get there because I'll keep coming back, and I'm seeing improvements in my fitness already. It's great to have someone there to offer advice on your technique or things you can do outside the training sessions, and he knows what he's talking about. It's not like the other classes where you're put at the back with 30 other students and don't really know whether you're doing the technique right or not.
Cornelius is always there ready to let you know if you're on the right track or where you could improve. My goal is to get fit, learn boxing and be able to appreciate and understand it more, gain some confidence and maybe even do a little sparring after getting into shape and when I'm ready....I know I'll be able to do all this and more with his training and advice.
" I really appreciate it mate and I know I'm going to make massive improvements with your help."
I am the kind of person who is always in search of new experiences and being tired of daily routine I needed a change, an outlet to channel negative emotions and distance myself from my daily life.
My friend reccommended a boxing trainer Cornelius Carr and I thought, why not? Tell you what, I am not easily impressed but I was thrilled by the experience, these emotions were completely new to me.
Cornelius channels energy and motivates you to excel. The other great thing is that apart from fitness, you also learn essential skills which apply to other aspects of life and where better to learn these skills than from a master?
Now, knowing the level of fitness that boxing requires I feel very excited about what I can achieve. A message to all girls: do not be afraid to challenge yourself. Cornelius Carr has so much to give and it may be exactly what you are looking for."
I first saw cornelius at christchurch quay get active fun day, I watched his demo and was really impressed. I had been looking for something new to do rather than just going to the gym doing the same boring workout and not getting any results. So I phoned cornelius and discussed what I wanted to achieve which was basically to lose some weight and get fit.
My first session with cornelius was brilliant, not only was it the hardest training session I had ever done but also the most enjoyable. The session was paced perfectly doing lots of different routines from shadow boxing to punch bag work and pad work, this was then followed by some circuit work with lots of press up's and sit up's. I came out completely exhausted but loved every minute of it.
I have now been going every week and am seeing the results I wanted, I actually look forward to doing the training.
So my advice to anyone thinking about training with cornelius is stop thinking about it and do it you wont be disappointed."
I always had a love for the sport of boxing and wanted to give it a go myself. Cornelius was very helpful when it came to advising me on what equipment to buy and made my first session very welcoming. I'd highly recommend him to anyone and look forward to many more sessions!"

I wanted to give boxing a go to improve my fitness. The sessions are hard work but very fun. Cornelius is a great coach with a good sense of humour."

I had been going to a personal trainer for some time at a local gym but found I was getting bored, my partner was training with Cornelius and suggested I give boxing training a go, I did'nt think I would enjoy it as it's not really seen as a womens sport, but I decided to try it and loved it .
I now think it's great for women and Cornelius is a great trainer. I can be a bit lazy at times but I feel he motivates me and I end up working harder.
Cornelius makes the workouts varied so you do not get bored from doing the same thing , my fitness has improved so much since I started , it's great for toning up and I have managed to shift that last stubborn half a stone !
I never used to look forward to exercising but I do look forward to this, I would highly recommend it to anyone who women who wants to get fit and toned ."
I had no previous experience boxing, before I started the summer...I was a complete noddle armed, choir boy with a training regime of a hamster. So if you have hamster-like skills and it takes you time to get things right, Cornelius will take the time and train you right.
After just training once a week, working the pads, and sucking up the heart pounding training circuits...I am in the best shape of your life! My muscles have dramatically toned up, and I've burned off the pug from my stomach...each training day just keeps getting better and better...Cornelius constantly mixes it up with new drills, which leaves your body guessing each time.
There's nothing like training one-on-one, or training in a small group with self motivated individuals. It's not a class where he'll stick you in a corner with another novice...Cornelius is right there in front of you, watching your every move...guiding you...making sure your getting it right".
Why train with anyone else?...full stop!"
I found Cornelius professional, affable and easy to work with, he was able to gauge the pace to work at perfectly.
The training was great fun and in a short space of time Cornelius had given my colleague and I a few moves for our charity event match and an excellent taster of the sport.
I hope to get Cornelius back to work with our volunteers and service users as a fantastic way to exercise and get fit. It has totally changed my view of boxing and given me a new appreciation of the sport and the physical demands it makes on the body."
Best wishes - Simon
I have been in gyms since the age of 16 and was looking for something to add a new dynamic to my training.
I had done some boxing before and knew that with the correct guidance it was the perfect sport to develop my fitness, stamina, core muscles and overall strength.
I had been in search of a boxing trainer for a long time, but none provided the technical knowledge or ability to push me that I had been looking for. Stumbling across Cornelius' website was a godsend, after all there cannot be anybody more qualified than a British and World middleweight champion to train you.
The sessions with Cornelius are exactly what I was looking for, his knowledge and ability to coach boxing are second to none and his top level experience really shows from a technical perspective. Coupled to that he is a fully qualified personal trainer who can tailor the sessions to help you achieve whatever you need. I thought that I was reasonably fit going into the sessions but I have never worked so hard or felt that I'd achieved as much as I did in his sessions.
I am pleased that I found Cornelius when I did because I know that with what he has to offer his diary is going to become full very quickly." - Alexis
I had never been in a Boxing ring before and Boxing was something I have always wanted to try. I read an article in The Daily Echo on Cornelius and his training. I decided to give it a go as I figured I could only benefit learning from an Ex World Champion, if Cornelius could not train me then no one could.
I have only been training with Cornelius for a few weeks and already I have noticed a huge difference in my boxing technique, fitness and attitude.
Training with Cornelius is intense, yet enjoyable and I find myself wanting to train more and more each week. He really pushes me too, so I get the full potential out of our training sessions.
I would highly recommend booking a session with Cornelius Carr, whether you want to just get fit and try a new sport or want to train to fight, his sessions offer the perfect combination"

I have been using a gym a few times a week periodically for a number of years now but not really made any notable progress. I've put this down to never really pushing myself beyond what I'm comfortable with.
Having stumbled across an article in The Echo about Cornelius and his training sessions I decided to make a change. Since I've been training with Cornelius in the last month or so my training has been anything but comfortable!!
He really knows how to push you hard enough to get the most out of you but still leave you wanting to train more and more. I've now stopped hurting in places I didn't know I had and am really feeling the benefit from a fitness point of view.
My boxing technique has also improved considerably in the last few weeks.
I have and would recommend booking some sessions with Cornelius to anyone who is interested in improving their fitness and /or boxing."
I am 42 years old and thought I had always kept myself relitively fit until I went and trained with Cornellius. I had done some boxing when I was younger and did ok and although I had kept quite fit there is nothing like boxing fitness. I couldnt do a round on the pads with out getting out of breath and thought sometimes that id never get to where I wanted to be. Seven weeks down the line and it is coming. I feel better in myself and more confident. I own and help run a few businesses and I can think better. fitness does that for you. Cornellius is now helping my son get fit and im very happy. Cornellius is a godsend to me."
Thanks mate. - Ricky
Some guys when they reach 50 years of age dash out and buy a Harley or learn to play the guitar. Me? ....well I am learning to box!
I played amateur football for 25 years, retiring two years ago at the tender age of 48. Since then the most physical thing done is cycle to the pub. I have always enjoyed boxing as a spectator sport, but never dreamt of putting gloves on.
You can imagine that when I showed for the first training session, trepidation was king. I should not have worried, Cornelius expertly recognised my degree of competence (not much) and fitness levels (flabby). That said and thus far, he has not patronised or belittled me in anyway at all, only encouraged (He is not soft either though, after today's hour I did want to be sick)!
Cornelius is patient, incredibly professional, a great communicator, funny and totally committed to getting the best out of me. The whole training experience is very enjoyable and it is making me really focus on what can be achieved. I am keeping a diary of my exploits and it will be available soon."

Hi Cornelius - I finally got the time to write a testimonial for your website ...
"I was aiming to find a training system that would push me to my limits both physically and mentally, to help transition me onto the next fitness level. I had always admired the discipline of boxing training, but thought if would be hard to find someone to learn the basics from. I had visited a few boxing gyms in the local area, yet they were more focused on youths rather than senior beginners. I was lucky to find an ex World Boxing champion who provided personal training. I approached the first session with nerves and anticipation, however Cornelius quickly made me feel comfortable, and provided a supportive environment allowing me to learn the art of boxing. I can honestly say I have never worked as hard in my life, or seen such a rapid improvement in my fitness level. For anyone considering training with Cornelius I would say just do it ! You will not be disappointed, and it will teach you how to push yourself, whilst being hugely rewarding at the same time."
- Cheers, Colby.
